Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area....

Around the bend
...named for the River and not the State,
areas like this, in a crowded area, are great;
there are many thing you could do here,
kayak, canoe, camping or fishing, do you have the gear?

It covers an area quite large in scale,
from the Pocono Mountains to New Jersey shale;
and although, as it's name might suggest,
it wont go the Delaware, it's close at best.

Fall season makes a nice ride

Cape Krusenstern National Monument...

Kotlik Lagoon, April 2008
...north to Alaska, up on the north slope,
a land preserve that's huge, and natural one would hope,
birds and animals are here, in the warmer times,
not too many around though, in the winter climes.

There is a lot to see, if you were to fly in,
because there are no roads, you can say that again,
no people who live here, scientist some times,
and, once again, it's in the warmers climes.

Bluestone National Scenic River...

All for you
...it's in West Virginia, where there are still hills, with the tops left on,
the preserve makes sure that some stay intact, before the coal companies make them gone;
enough of my "sermon", let's enjoy the view,
this park is here to be enjoyed by you.

It bends around hills, in a graceful swing,
and some of the fish, could make you "king";
come to visit, bring you best tent,
when you're done, you'll be glad you went.
There are some rapids

Big Cypress National Preserve...

Egrets nesting
...Florida, a large part of the Everglades system,
supports wildlife and filters water, and we almost missed 'em;
not pretty to look at, at least to my eyes,
but it has an important task, and very large size.

Home to the last Florida Panther, and Key Deer,
all sorts or birds, turtles and alligators are here,
I would want to go for a walk in this place,
I'd go so fast it would be like a race.

Assateague Island National Seashore...

The wild "ponies", click to enlarge
...Maryland and Virginia, a barrier island, lots of shore,
come on down, in good weather, look and explore;
besides the beach which is many miles long,
there are salt marshes, and grassland, where the "ponies" belong.

The "ponies" are wild, and they're horses, just small,
left over for colonial flocks, they flourish, all,
some are rounded up, each year in the spring,
by the Chincoteague Fire Department, into which, money they bring.

Don't...

...be afraid of things that go 'bump in the night',
they always go away, long before daylight;
it's all in your mind, that's what they say,
but they haven't seen that they're here in the day.

And it's daytime
Maybe, just maybe it you get on your bike,
you can get away, or, stay here if you like;
I don't think it matters, those things are right here,
but you can't hear me scream.  Can you dear?

Bump-a-bike
 Nah! Don't be afraid, those things aren't real,
go look at nature, that's sure to heal,
look at the flowers, tended by a bee,
you can look with your heart, at things you can't see.

See?

Don't...

...ride with strangers, your mother said,
so that's something you look at with dread;
and you know, it wouldn't be wise,
to ride with strangers - that advertise.

Do not ride with strangers
 Don't over exercise, it's could be bad for your back,
it's okay to do some, make up for muscles you lack;
but don't over do it, it's a dangerous thing,
especially those push ups, with only one "wing".

Go, Baby, Go!!
Don't run stop signs, no matter the place,
they are there for a reason, there's no need to race,
stop, look both ways before you proceed,
those signs are real, you'd better take heed.

Don't go through stop signs
